Acupressure - The treatment of symptoms by applying
pressure with the fingers to specific pressure points
on the body, stimulating the body's natural curing
abilities.
Aromatherapy - The use of selected essentials oils in
the forms of lotions and inhalants, extracted from
herbs and flowers, in an effort to affect mood and
promote health.
Breath Work - A breathing technique used to release
unexpressed emotions, stress, anger, sadness, and
feelings of low self-worth.
Chiropractic - A system of therapy in which disease is considered
the result of abnormal function of the nervous system. The
method of treatment usually involves manipulation of the
spinal column and other body structures.
Colon Hydrotherapy - A method of cleansing the colon
of waste material by repeated flushing with water.
Other terms used for this therapy include "colonic,"
"colon lavage", "colon irrigation",
and "high
colonic".
Detoxification - The metabolic process by which the
toxic qualities of a poison or toxin are reduced by
the body. Detoxification is also used to rid the body
of addictions to substances such as caffeine, sugar,
alcohol, nicotine, etc.
Energy Therapy - A therapy designed to remove
imbalances in one's human energy field and aura.
Homeopathic - A system for treating dis-ease based on
the administration of minute doses of a drug that in
massive amounts produces symptoms in healthy
individuals similar to those of the disease itself.
Meditation - To train, calm, or empty the mind, often
by achieving an altered state, as by focusing on a
single object. Also, to engage in devotional
contemplation, especially prayer. To think or reflect, especially
in a calm and deliberate manner.
Metaphysical - The branch of philosophy that examines
the nature of reality, including the relationship
between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact
and value.
Naturopathy - A system of medicine that uses natural
substances to treat patients, and the recognition that
the patients mental, emotional, and physical states
must all be treated for a lasting effect. Naturopathy
relies on natural remedies, such as sunlight, massage,
and dietary supplements to treat illness.
Pilates - A fitness system that combines stretching
and strengthening exercises. It's designed to work the
core and the body in fluid movements that improve
muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength
and tone through physical and mental conditioning. It
works on deep muscles and the spine.
Yoga - A discipline aimed at training the
consciousness for a state of perfect spiritual insight
and tranquility. A system of exercise practiced as
part of this discipline to promote control of the body
and mind.
